Can HIT increase my athletic abilities?

HIT will undeniably improve an individual’s sport performance. There are two distinct forms of conditioning in sports training: skill conditioning and physical conditioning. Skill conditioning is simply practicing the sport in which one is engaged.  Football players practice playing football. Golfers practice playing golf. Soccer players play soccer.

The second, physical conditioning, involves exercises that focus on strength so that improvements in muscular and metabolic function can be stimulated. Physical training is about improving muscular efficiency and efficacy so that we can get the most out of our physical abilities. Physical conditioning should be intense and brief – as with HIT – which allows us to devote time to perfecting the skills of the sport.  We have recently seen an increase in the number of amateur athletes, in particular, who benefit from HIT: the increases in strength and power have a direct impact on their sport performance.
